Sunday night lesson

So last night my roommate’s bf T taught me about football. A lesson that was long overdue. I understand most things, but for some reason the game of football always eluded me. I remember learning it in junior high but somewhere between lessons in Pi and African history, I lost my understanding. And now that I live with a girl who looooooves football and am crushing on a boy who also loooooooves football, I figured I should learn the game. I mean if 90% of men in this country can understand it, I can too!
So we settled down and watched the Bears defeat the Colts. I’m not a big fan of either. For some reason the Dallas Cowboys have always appealed to me (something about cowboys and Texas I guess!) so I wasn’t really cheering on either team. So T explained what a 1st Down is, what the QB is shouting before he throws the ball, etc, etc. And I must say, it is a fairly easy game to comprehend. I personally think my favorite, baseball, is a tad bit more complicated.
Now I can impress P with my understanding of what 2nd and 8 is.

American football is really quite simple, but I do like it. I think because it is a blow by blow game rather than a continuous one and you can speculate what a teams going to do when they’re 4th and long rather than just seeing all the plays merge into one like soccer or rugby.

I quite like watching American Football, although I much prefer baseball. I’m gutted that my trip ina few weeks is just after the end of baseball season though!
